E-ssential Eating.
Fun fact - the chemical name for Vitamin E is a-tocopherol. Named in 1936 following studies by Evans et al. and 'derived from the ancient Greek word phero, "to bring" and the word tocos, meaning "childbirth".'
Vitamin E is present in the follicular fluid that surrounds and nourishes a woman's developing eggs and is thought to be good for both male and female reproductive health.
Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin with antioxidant and immune function properties. So you can see why it should be on our radar when it comes to eating for fertility.
Iām a firm believer in utilising food as our main source of vitamin and mineral intake, before thinking about taking any supplements. Vitamin E belongs to the group of fat soluble vitamins that are stored in the body so you could over do it if you take it in excessive amounts via supplementation.
So, what are some of the foods can we find it in?
SUNFLOWER SEEDS
ALMONDS
AVOCADOS
OLIVE OIL
WALNUTS
