Feed Your Fertility.

With what? I hear you say. If you're on a fertility journey you'll no doubt already feel bombarded by the amount of supplements and gimmicks out there claiming to boost fertility. I'll admit I've taken my fair share of them and they're not exactly cheap.

How about we take it back to basics? Before thinking about taking supplements it is a great idea to prioritise food intake as your main source of vitamins and minerals. It's worth noting that everyone will absorb and utilise the vitamins and minerals from food differently but by fuelling your body with nutritious food you're giving it a damn good head start.

The Mediterranean way of eating is often considered a good place to start, potentially setting you up with a healthier nutrient status for you, your pregnancy and your baby. This means an abundance of fruits, vegetables, legumes, wholegrains, nuts and seeds, extra virgin olive oil together with some coldwater low mercury fish/seafood and pasture-raised lean meats.

There is evidence to suggest that "adherence to healthy diets favouring fish, poultry, wholegrains, fruits and vegetables, are related to better fertility in women and better semen quality in men."
