Raised Better.

You may have heard of these phrases but are not really sure what they mean or even what benefit they have when it comes to fertility.

When eating to conceive, studies have shown that doing our best to avoid toxins like chemicals and pesticides serves to improve not only our own health but that of our future children. Little did we know that the animal protein we eat could be a source of potential added toxins.

Looking at ways to reduce potential endocrine (hormone) disruptors in the foods we eat is a bonus point for fertility. Plus you’ll notice the taste difference by eating less intensively farmed animal protein.

When it comes to food these are just a few of the phrases you might want to look out for when buying animal protein. They may be slightly more pricey but it’s worth thinking about eating less meat, but better quality when you do.

GRASS-FED ORGANIC BEEF - Means that meat comes from animals that graze on food more common to their natural diet, free from hormones and antibiotics.

WILD-CAUGHT FISH - Is pretty self-explanatory, meaning it is caught in the wild and not farm-raised. Wild caught fish eat a more diverse diet and are generally leaner than their farmed friends. Look for fresh that bear the MSC logo for responsible, sustainable fishing.

PASTURE RAISED ORGANIC CHICKEN - Again this means the poultry was fed a more natural diet free from chemicals, hormones, pesticides and genetically modified feed and are likely to live more of an outdoor life.
