In the colder months the body craves warm foods but that doesn’t mean we should forgo salads and the nutrients available from salad greens.

Get creative with your ingredients, combining flavours and colours into delicious warming winter side dishes. This warm Pear, Sweet Potato, Red Onion and Toasted Walnut salad is a visual and satiating feast.

Packing in anti-inflammatory OMEGA 3s from a non-fish source (great for vegetarians), together with essential folate for healthy cell division and DNA synthesis. The FOLATE in this dish helps to protect against neural tube defects in the growing baby with evidence showing that the neural tube starts developing pretty soon after conception, in the first 3-4 weeks. So before you may even know that you are pregnant. Ensuring you are eating folate-rich foods pre-conception is a great way to be fertility healthy.

You could also add in some toasted chickpeas to this dish for an extra plant protein hit. Yum!
